The Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore (IDA) is a new statutory board under the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology. IDA is formed from the merger of the National Computer Board and the Telecommunication Authority of Singapore. The merger is in recognition of the convergence of IT and communications technologies and businesses, and the need for an integrated perspective to promotion, development and regulation across these technologies and business.
IDA will be responsible for the growth and development of the info-communications industry in Singapore. IDA's mission is to spearhead Singapore's drive to be a vital global info-communications centre, catalysing Singapore's transformation into a knowledge-based digital economy and society, in order to realise the benefits of the digital future.
MMI TechnoVentures Pte Ltd ("MMITV") was established in January 2000 as the joint technology and strategic investment vehicle of MMI Holdings Limited and Standard Chartered Asia Development Capital Limited ("SCADCL"). MMI and SCADCL each invested S$15 million in MMITV bringing the issued and paid-up capital of the Company to S$30 million.
