Breast Cancer was the most common cancer and a leading cause of cancer deaths among Singapore women. Cervical Cancer was the fourth most common malignancy of Singapore women in 2002.
To combat cancer through early detection and treatment of the disease, the Singapore Health Promotion Board (HPB), a statutory board of the Ministry of Health, launched national screening programs aimed at these 2 common cancers.
Manual processes, workarounds and disparate patient information contribute to time-consuming and costly administration. HPB saw the challenge of automating and streamlining operational procedures, enhancing communications, better data quality and information management and online electronic services as key strategic imperatives.
