Ecquaria partners Health Promotion Board, Singapore and Hwee Jan to showcase Asia’s largest dental care system in a mobile setting at IDEM Singapore 2008
Singapore (4 April 2008) - Integrated oral healthcare that delights patients, dentists and healthcare professionals is what visitors to the simulated dental clinic on-the-wheels can look forward to experience at IDEM 2008.
The Health Promotion Board (HPB), Singapore, together with its technology partner, Ecquaria Technologies, and its mobile dental clinic provider, Hwee Jan (S) Pte Ltd are proud to showcase the award-winning integrated patient-centric dental clinical management system called IDEAS.
Representing the vanguard of Service-Oriented integrated primary healthcare best practices and innovation in Asia, IDEAS which stands for Integrated Dental Electronic Assessment for Students is the dental portion of arguably Asia’s largest integrated healthcare system.
The solution clinched the Top Healthcare Award at the Asia Pacific Infocomm Technology Awards (APICTA) 2006 in Macau and a Merit Award (double awards for the categories of "Most Innovative Use of Infocomm Technology by the Public Sector" and "Most Innovative Infocomm Product” for Ecquaria Service-Oriented PlatformTM) at the prestigious National Infocomm Award (NIA) 2006 in Singapore. In 2007, the project was honoured Special Mention in the e-Government category at the World Summit Award 2007 (WSA '07) in Venice, Italy.
"IDEAS is an extensive distributed Web-based system that enables dental professionals, administrators and healthcare professionals to access patient data anywhere, anytime in a secure manner. We are pleased to partner with HPB in contributing towards providing quality care for school children through the acclaimed nation-wide system that plays a critical role in Singapore's national initiative of achieving 'one patient, one record'," said Dr Foong Wai Keong, President and CEO of Ecquaria Technologies.
Besides being used in HPB's School Dental Centre (SDS) and HPB's dental field staff in schools, the IDEAS system is also used in HPB's mobile dental clinics. The mobile dental clinics, manufactured and supplied by Hwee Jan (S) Pte Ltd, are custom-built to suit the SDS' needs to reach out to all the secondary school students and to provide effective dental care to them.
"At Hwee Jan, we strive to provide mobile dental and medical vehicles in a hygienic, modern and comfortable environment customized for optimum operational efficiency and low running cost. These mobile vehicles, engineered to be fully operational on its own, can easily extend the provision of healthcare services at remote locations," said Mr C S Choong, Project Manager, Hwee Jan (S) Pte Ltd.
"IDEAS is a simple, streamlined and user friendly electronic system which enables us to capture clinical records easily. It also offers efficient clinic management and reporting for HPB’s School Dental Service. The use of mobile dental clinics is cost effective and provides an efficient service delivery mode in reaching out to all the secondary schools. Both the implementations have enhanced overall patient experience and improve customer service," said Dr Eu Oy Chu, Deputy Director, School Dental Service, HPB.
IDEAS represents a radical shift in delivering healthcare today based on Ecquaria's unique implementation concept of Service Covenants that can be established, tracked and monitored across all points of the patient-centric service delivery continuum in real-time.
IDEAS is plugged into the national Electronic Medical Records Exchange (EMRX), 3G-wireless network as well as a massive number of critical information systems which enables seamless sharing of clinic attendance information with healthcare providers in the public healthcare sector during patient visits. The system allows real-time access and retrieval of online dental records of more than half a million school children in Singapore by dental healthcare professionals nationwide.
Empowered by Ecquaria's innovative business process-friendly platform, the Ecquaria Service-Oriented Platform™ (Ecquaria SOP™), IDEAS plays a major role in enhancing national preventive healthcare programmes in Singapore.
Visitors can look forward to experience a dental patient's visit in a simulated mobile dental clinic at the booth, as well as gain first-hand insight from the team and dental practitioners in the design, implementation and usage of the intuitive user-friendly system.
