Ecquaria Completes Successful Pilot Launch of e-Government Services for Businesses
Singapore (26 February 2008) - Ecquaria Technologies Limited (www.ecquaria.com), leader in the provision of mission-critical government and enterprise infrastructure and solutions today announced its Qatar's e-Government implementation is well on track with Qatar's launch of its new set of commercial registration e-Services for businesses on the Qatar Service Platform (QSP) developed on Ecquaria's award-winning flagship product, the Ecquaria Service-Oriented Platform™ (Ecquaria SOP™).
Today's announcement coincides with the recent launch of Qatar's new e-Government Portal, called Hukoomi, which provides a single gateway to access Qatar's current and future online e-government services and to access information on government entities and services any time, day or night. Ecquaria is proud to power Hukoomi's new commercial registration set of e-Services to allow individuals and businesses to register new businesses and manage existing commercial registration processes online.
Business users are now empowered with a seamless and convenient means to transact online and make e-payments for the new suite of key pilot e-Services which are launched by The Supreme Council of Information and Communication Technology (ictQATAR) in coordination with Qatar's Ministry of Economy and Commerce, without having the need to visit numerous government entities hence saving citizens and businesses time and effort. Whilst Hukoomi provides the front-end portal, it is the underlying QSP which serves the commercial registration online services as the central integrated and hosting enterprise infrastructure that empowers efficient sharing of common services such as user authentication, e-payment and data services from various agencies. Working closely with the Ministry of Economy and Commerce and ictQATAR, six key pilot e-Services are launched through the seamless backend integration with other agencies such as Qatar's Chamber of Commerce and Industry, National Health Authority, Publication Department and Ministry of Interior. Through the common service gateway along with its common standards and interface provided via QSP, agencies have the flexibility to develop and host their e-Services centrally and reap efficiencies.
Available in both English and Arabic, the newly launched set of six key pilot e-Services allows individuals and businesses to set up a new business on-line – from registration, to approvals, to required documentation, to payments – through this one-stop shop. It will allow current businesses to renew their commercial registration, change company details and reserve or change a business name.
Dr Foong Wai Keong, Ecquaria's President and CEO, attributed the successful QSP rollout to the excellent partnership and determined shared commitment of the project team at ictQATAR and Ecquaria. Dr Foong also said the launch of QSP signals a significant and steady realization of Qatar's i-Gov program, which supports the country's modernization efforts by increasing the availability, accessibility, and effectiveness of e-services; enabling an integrated and efficient government through use of ICT; and improving government transparency.
Referring to Qatar's i-Gov program, Dr Foong said, "The rollout success is a result of the strong resolve and collaboration between Singapore and Qatar to share expertise and experience. We are excited to be a part of this journey since day one with the Qatar government and are looking forward to extend our domain expertise to other areas of the government."
The QSP has been earmarked to provide a significant foundation that will catalyze and strengthen the mission of ictQATAR to connect people to technologies that enrich their lives, drive economic development and inspire confidence in the future.
Believed to be the first landmark Government-to-Business (G2B) e-Government agreement of its kind sealed in the Middle East, the QSP project was awarded to the Singapore enterprise software company in November 2006 based on its proven track record in empowering e-Government projects.
